“Slow burn” EP was the consequence of an overbearing feeling of claustrophobia intensified by the pandemic. The inability to leave my flat, and living with strangers built up many feelings of frustration and as a result encouraged me to seek escape in other things such as over romanticising a platonic relationship and feeling trapped in the one I was in.
The constant longing to leave and escape is one of the central themes of the EP. I wanted to disappear from where I was physically but also wanted my mind to shut up. The only way to escape was dancing alone in my room with headphones on and a £10 disco light. Kinda dancing the pain away. The only place where I could shake off the heaviness and find fleeting moments of relief. Sonically that's exactly what the “Slow Burn” EP sounds like; sad songs with a sexy beat.’
